HANDS ON

THE DIY ENGINE COMPANY

This class will go over the basic principles and practices that a short staffed company needs to be proficient in when arriving first due to a fire and additional help is several minutes away.

We will cover skills and techniques including masking up skills, forcible entry, 1-2 firefighter hoseline stretching and advancing, various search techniques on and off the line, victim drags and removal, all with a focus on problem solving, communicating and adapting to rapidly changing circumstances on the fire ground

ADVANCED AUTO EXTRICATION

This is not your typical pop the door, check the box auto extrication drill. This is 8 hours of advanced techniques and scenarios for when you cant just pop it. Plenty of cars and unique situations will be provided for your learning pleasures. Use the newest rescue tools as you work and learn together as a team to get better at the art of auto extrication.

Luke Ricketts is a full time Firefighter, Paramedic, Instructor, and Inspector as well as the North East
Ohio Factory Representative of Genesis Rescue Systems. He grew up in a firehouse, spending time there
with his Dad and then as a volunteer until leaving for a part-time, and later, a full-time position. In his
efforts to continue to sharpen his life saving skillset he began in-depth training for vehicle extrication.
Now, Luke provides first-rate extrication training and works to broaden the skillsets of as many fellow
firefighters as he can. He also teaches vehicle extrication courses to the next generation of firefighters at
local colleges and universities.

LITTLE CITY RIT

This is not an ADVANCED RIT CLASS. No crazy off the wall techniques will be taught or covered. No
bizarre scenarios will be used. This class is designed around the most basic fundamentals of RIT and
adapted to fit the ever growing Limited Manpower Fire Department. Only 7.5% of FF Rescues were
performed with a designated RIT TEAM according to Project Mayday. With this being said the students
will not be functioning as a RIT Team but rather as a first or second due Engine Company assigned to fire
attack and/or primary search. The class is designed to build confidence, and focuses on communication,
critical thinking, adaptation, and a never quit attitude. It is not designed to make the students fail.

Be that as it may, THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS. Students will be challenged mentally and physically even
in the most basic scenarios. Instructors AND Students will perform these evolutions together in a high
stress, zero visibility environment. Students and Instructors will perform in either simulated or real
smoke, they will get wet, and they will run their bottles dry but by the end of the class, ALL will be more
confident and prepared in the event that a MAYDAY event strikes their department
